Large Black and White Marbled Pillar
About the brand: No One Alike is run by father daughter duo Kim and Bill. Kim uses an abstract technique marbling technique, where each step is calculated but no pattern is ever alike. She marbles everything from leather bags to wall art. Bill creates handmade wood art, from one of a kind knives to bangles. Each piece is made by hand in Georgia.
Details: The strikingly vibrant colors and shapes created by the marbling technique speaks to the wild and unencumbered nature that is often lost in the busyness and day-to-day tasks of life.
The process: Marbling is the ancient technique of making monoprints using floating pigments.
- Drops acrylic paint onto a surface of water, which is thickened with seaweed moss.
- Manipulates the floating colors into a desired pattern
- Dips each candle by hand into the thickened water and it picks up the paint. Every candle and every pattern is uniquely it's own.
