Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000
As we continue to grow and expand our Candlefish presence across different states and cities, salary structuring will vary based upon these factors: cost of living, market rates, local economic conditions, and legal requirements regarding minimum wage. Job Purpose: The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the business, ensuring optimal performance and achieving company goals. This role plays a crucial part in strategic planning, financial management, staff leadership, and customer satisfaction. As one of the primary leaders within the organization, the General Manager works to ensure business growth, maintain high operational standards, and foster a positive and productive work environment.
Reports To: Director of Retail Operations
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the store
- Lead in-store team of 10+, including management staff, full-time, and part-time employees
- Support and execute strategies as determined by Director of Retail Operations to drive in-store sales and KPI goals
- Uphold culture and customer service standards through consistently training and mentoring staff
- Maintain accurate and efficient raw material and finished good inventory systems
- Oversee operational and building maintenance (i.e. POS system, internet, fixtures, etc)
- Responsible for staffing the store including hiring/firing, scheduling, and role transitions
- Maintain and enforce a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Uphold the Candlefish standard for visual merchandising and retail aesthetic
- Support and execute marketing and promotional efforts as determined by Director of Retail Operations and Marketing Team
- Initiate local marketing initiatives in conjunction with Director of Retail Operations and Marketing Team to drive in-store sales and brand recognition
- Responsible for employee performance management, engagement, and progressive discipline
Sales, KPI’s, and Marketing
- Build community relationships and develop local marketing efforts in conjunction with Director of Retail Operations and Marketing Team
- Continuously work to exceed sales, labor, profit, and KPI goals as determined by Director of Retail Operations
- Break down monthly goals as determined by Director of Retail Operations into daily goals, and communicate to staff
- Support and execute marketing and promotional efforts as determined by Director of Retail Operations and Marketing Team
- Oversee quarterly merchandising plans to drive sales, cater to local demographics, and stay ahead of trends
- Respond to reviews on platforms including google, yelp, and trip advisor
- Contribute to social media activity and uphold store level standards as determined by Marketing Team
- Uphold Candlefish’s standard for customer service and foster a “people first” attitude with team members
- Oversee public and private workshops and work to exceed those goals
- Coordinate Quarterly Artist Collaborations
Staffing
- Responsible for continuously recruiting, interviewing, and hiring all in-store staff
- Responsible for scheduling on a bi-weekly basis, ensuring full operational and floor coverage as well as hitting labor goals
- Responsible for fostering in-house growth and promotions when available
Training and Development
- Responsible for leading, inspiring, and motivating team members on a daily basis
- Responsible for employee performance management, engagement, and progressive discipline
- Embody and execute Candlefish Sales Standards training
- Maintain active floor presence to ensure effective in the moment coaching and employee development
- Conduct monthly staff meetings to foster product, candle, and fragrance knowledge, sales training, and team building
- Conduct annual performance reviews for each team member based in Candlefish Values
Operations
- Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the store
- Maintain accurate and efficient raw material and finished good inventory systems
- Oversee operational and building maintenance (i.e. POS system, internet, fixtures, etc)
- Maintain and enforce a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Manage and reorder store supplies including office and cleaning supplies, collateral cards, and retail supplies
- Manage weekly payroll including overtime and missed punches
- Oversee shipping procedures
Workshops
- Responsible for teaching at least one workshop per week
- Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and visually appealing workshop space
- Uphold and train staff on workshop safety standards
- Order workshop and class supplies and equipment
- Update classes on our website at least two months in advance, and communicate with team
- Execute seasonal and specialty classes
- Choose and document monthly fragrance choices and rotation in the fragrance library and workshop
- Oversee training of teachers so as to maintain consistently inspiring experiences in all of our workshops
- Oversee the communication and coordination of all private workshops
- Proactively take steps to bring on more private workshop clients and facilitate more bookings to exceed goals

Skills and Qualifications:
- 4+ years of retail experience
- At least 2+ in a leadership role
- Highschool diploma or equivalent/ GED
Work Environment:
- Be able to lift 50 lbs
- Be able to stand on your feet for prolonged periods of time
